About the Home Energy Rebates

On Aug. 16, 2022, President Joseph R. Biden signed the landmarkInflation Reduction Act, which provides nearly $400 billion to support clean energy and address climate change, including$8.8 billion for the Home Energy Rebates.

These rebates — which include theHome Efficiency RebatesandHome Electrification and Appliance Rebates — will put money directly back in the hands of American households. The rebates can help you save money on select home improvement projects that can lower your energy bills.

DOE estimates these rebates will save households up to $1 billion annually on energy bills and support over 50,000 U.S. jobs.

Program Updates

Home Energy Rebates are not yet available, but DOE expects many states and territories to launch their programs in 2024.Our tracker shows which states and territories have applied for and received funding.

Households looking for assistance today may be eligible for other federal programs, includingtax creditsor theWeatherization Assistance Program.

DOE’sOffice of State and Community Energy Programs(SCEP) hasreleased applications for states and territoriesto apply for program funding. SCEP has alsoreleased application materials for Tribes.
