JOB DESCRIPTION: PrincipalQualifications
Valid Leadership Certification in Administration and Supervision; a Masters’ degree or higher is required.
At least three years acceptable school experience.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: SuperintendentDuties And Responsibilities
Interprets and enforces school and system objectives, federal and state laws, system policies and administrative regulations, and the standards and criteria of all applicable accrediting agencies.
Directs a major portion of time functioning as the instructional leader in the school, maintaining an environment and attitudes conducive to growth in the students and staff and organizing the faculty and staff for the most effective and efficient development of the school program.
Recruits, screens, recommends, and evaluates all school-level professional personnel for employment.
Supervises the daily use and maintenance of the school facilities for both curricular and extra-curricular purposes.
Maintains student discipline through established procedures and through work with teachers, parents, and students.
Develops and maintains a system of on-going curriculum research, improvement evaluation, and long-range planning in the individual school.
Administers school funds, records, and reports in accordance with Tattnall County Board of Education policy and established procedure.
Provides leadership in the development of the daily schedule and makes staff assignments within the school.
Administers the inventory, maintenance, and selection of all materials, equipment, and supplies.
Participates in overall transportation planning and supervision as it directly affects the school or its students.
Arranges, in conjunction with appropriate supervisory personnel, in-service and professional growth opportunities for staff members.
Establishes and implements emergency, health, and safety procedures for the school in accordance with law and recommended practice.
Requests the services of system-level and other support and auxiliary personnel as indicated.
Cooperates with teacher-training and teacher-support agencies in teacher-training and supervision.
Provides leadership in the organization of parent-teacher associations, encouraging the utilization of community resources in the instructional program and the utilization of school resources to the benefit of the community.
Establishes and maintains open communication channels with the community, parents, students, teachers, and other staff members and agencies.
Performs other duties and services as indicated or as requested by the Superintendent
