Design
The ZQuiet is a soft, flexible mouthpiece that you wear while you sleep. It’s considered a mandibular advancement device (MAD) because it gently nudges your jaw forward and keeps your throat open.
Why does this matter? Because one of the most common causes of snoring isthe obstruction of the airway.
When you sleep, your throat muscles relax, and your tongue rolls towards the back of your throat. This creates a semi-blocked airway with oxygen whistling around it as you breathe.
By holding your jaw forward, the ZQuiet prevents your throat muscles from collapsing and interfering with your airflow. It also encourages your tongue to stay in place because of the increased angle of your chin.
When you put all of these things together, the ZQuiet offers a simple but effective solution for snoring. It stops your snores from happening at all.
Fitting the ZQuiet Anti Snoring Mouthpiece
One of the first things that drew me to the ZQuiet was its origin story. It was designed by dentists, so I was hoping that their knowledge and expertise would keep the ZQuiet from being a bulky, uncomfortable mouthpiece.

This distinguishes it from other MADs that have detailed technical guides for molding or boiling their products before they ever touch a human mouth.
The ZQuiet is much more convenient. Just unwrap the product, figure out which end goes in first and you’re good to go.
Upkeep and Shelf Life
If you use it every night, you can expect the ZQuiet to last about a year. It will eventually wear down because of its soft and malleable materials. Your bite will also start to take its toll, especially if you have a problem with grinding.
The good news is that you can extend the longevity of your ZQuiet by taking good care of it. Here are some general maintenance tips:
- Wash it every morning with toothpaste or denture cleaning paste.
- Never clean it using bleach or mouthwash. Never rinse it with hot water.
- Once a week, spray it or wipe it down with a dental appliance cleaning solution. The manufacturers recommend the OAP Appliance Cleaner, but you can use anything with gentle, non-toxic ingredients.
It’s also important to take action right away if you notice anything odd about your ZQuiet. For example, I have the occasional problem with drool, and I noticed that drooling nights corresponded with a white film building up on the ZQuiet’s trays. It’s easy enough to wipe away; just don’t let it fester.
Comfort Level
As I’ve mentioned before, one of the best things about the ZQuiet is that it’s very pleasant to wear. In addition to the soft, flexible design and multiple sizes on offer, it’s also made with medical-grade materials that are completely free of latex, acrylics and BPA.
It won’t irritate your gums. It won’t clink against your teeth. Once you’ve grown used to the general feeling of wearing a mouthpiece, you might even forget that it’s there.
Part of this flexibility is because the ZQuiet comes from dentists who are familiar with the anatomy of the mouth. It’s also because the ZQuiet was designed to be mobile. You can drink, swallow and even talk while wearing it, so it’s a step above the more rigid mouthpieces on the market that seal your mouth shut for 8-10 hours at a time.

Disadvantages
As much as I love the ZQuiet, this wouldn’t be a fair and objective review if I didn’t mention its flaws.
The biggest drawback is that it isn’t customizable.
You can’t fit it to the exact proportions of your mouth, so you have to make do with one of the two sizes that are already offered.
While there’s a silver lining in the fact that you don’t have to boil, mold or cut anything to get started, it’s a shame that you can’t adjust its measurements at all.
It would be nice to control the exact shape of its material or the precise angle that it advances your jaw.
Another potential issue is if you wear braces, dentures or other oral devices. The ZQuiet might or might not be compatible with them.
It’ll fit okay, but your airways might not remain fully open at night. You’ll have to try the product and see.
